How we got these numbers
  • Paper invitations. That is $292 of printing. Then you address them, stuff them, stamp them, and keep every reply in a spreadsheet yourself. $177 of it is stamps — 146 of them, because every reply card needs postage back. Stamps are USPS retail prices: $2.42 an invitation, which is $1.11 to send it, $0.49 more for a square envelope and $0.82 for the reply card. The printing is our estimate, about $4 a set; The Knot’s 2026 study puts the average spend on invitations at $220, before postage.   • Paperless Post Premium. 73 invitations, each sent twice (the save-the-date, then the invitation) at 5 coins a recipient each time, from their published coin packs ($12 for 25 coins up to $140.99 for 1,000). Depending on the packs you buy, that comes to $110 to $141; the chart shows the higher figure. That buys one send to one person per party. Address both partners and it is $246 at their own published rate. Every re-send costs again and nothing is refundable.
